Hand, a willingness

To paint a Smile

On a rough face.

With grace, let us raise

Hands with an open

Heart. To entertain

Both the crippled, and the needy

In this economic weather–

Which changes dramatically,

Like the thoughts of man.

And like a lark’s dying

Speech, let our thoughts

Be as calm as the daunt’ess

Ocean at eve; as we embrace,

The ugly, the languorous,

The slaves, the homeless,

And the infected,

Into a world of peace.
