“Memories are the architecture of our identity”

As they say, “we are what we think”, so the memories we choose to hold on to make us what we are. Everybody has a past with hundreds of memories; good and bad, and it’s because of the bittersweet memories that we manage to endure the past. There could be two things that we like about our recollections, the events of the past or the people we’ve spent time with. Some of these are so dear to us that they become a part of our present. We cherish those recollections so much that we can’t go a day without thinking them over. “Memories are bullets. Some whiz by and only spook you. Others tear you open and leave you in pieces”. We own what happened to us, why tell it to the world by letting it out on everyone else being a moron? It’s sad, you know, how the memories we cherished in the past become our worst enemies in the present. So it is a lot safer to lock them up in your heart and not let them ruin the better person you could be. It is an act of self-preservation and not bitterment. To conclude, you don’t remember what happened. What you remember becomes what happened.
